Pam, I have struggled with that envy thing too. I have been writing for decades (even longer but we won’t talk about that) and a man I worked with in ministry decided to write a book. I knew he had the platform (our shared ministry) and immediately I got very jealous. Not fair.. I thought. I really struggled with that and asked God to help me with my jealously. I hate that. After several attempts to write the book (and miserably, God love him) he asked me to ghost write it. I know I didn’t deserve that at all after my awful thoughts about his writing. I was glad he finally realized he needed help though.

Dealing with that green eyed bug is an on-going struggle that only lots of grace and mercy will help us overcome.

And I would venture to say that it’s not the wealth of insight into publishing that draws us, it’s the fact that you make yourself so transparent and real that you’re easy to trust and fun to hang with.

I just got back from speaking at a women’s retreat, and the two weeks leading up to it had been a draining, stressful time for me. Somehow, God made it so that I poured my heart out to the women, didn’t sleep a wink the two nights I was there, and yet I came home refreshed, smiling, and ready to tackle another mountain.
