Manuscript Evaluation Session

Best for: “I need a professional read on my manuscript.”

Manuscript Evaluation Session

You’ve finished a manuscript — or taken it as far as you can on your own — and now you need a clear, professional read on where it stands.

In this 1-hour session, I’ll evaluate your fiction or nonfiction manuscript from the perspective of a literary agent: the writing, the concept, the structure, the market fit, and its readiness for traditional publishing.

Before we meet, I’ll spend 2–3 hours reading and assessing your manuscript. In this amount of time, I won’t be able to read your entire manuscript, but I’ll read a good deal of it, enough to give you solid feedback. During our Zoom session, I’ll give you direct, top-level feedback on what’s working, what may be holding the project back, and what your next steps should be before querying agents or approaching publishers.

This is not a full developmental edit or line edit. A manuscript evaluation is broader: it gives you a clear, big-picture assessment of the manuscript’s strengths, weaknesses, and publishing potential. That distinction matters, because a high-level evaluation helps writers see the major issues before investing in deeper revision or editorial work.

This session is for you if:

  • You’ve written a full or partial novel, memoir, or nonfiction manuscript.
  • You’re wondering if the writing is strong enough for traditional publishing.
  • You need honest feedback from someone who understands agents, editors, and the marketplace.
  • You’re unsure what kind of revision the manuscript needs.
  • You want to know whether the project is ready to query — or what needs to happen first.

We may discuss:

  • The strength of the premise or book idea
  • The quality of the writing and voice
  • Structure, pacing, clarity, and reader engagement
  • Fiction elements such as character, plot, stakes, and narrative arc
  • Nonfiction elements such as argument, organization, authority, and audience
  • Marketability and traditional publishing potential
  • Your best next steps for revision, querying, or repositioning

You’ll leave with:

A clearer understanding of where your manuscript stands, what’s already working, what needs attention, and what to do next if your goal is traditional publishing.

Cost: $249
